Refacing Kitchen Cabinets and Important Considerations to Know

Unless your cabinetry is already severely damaged, refacing kitchen cabinets is always a recommended way to update your kitchen interior. It’s especially true of the cabinet units are still in good condition, but they only require refreshment on appearance. Refinishing kitchen cabinets is one way you can do instead of replacing the whole cabinet units due to several factors.

It goes without saying that replacing the cabinets is extremely expensive. On the other hand, refacing kitchen cabinets offers a more affordable solution. And depend on the size of the kitchen, cabinet refacing will take only 2 to 4 days to finish. Installing new cabinet and drawer fronts is common when refacing the units. You can also cover the exposed frames with plastic or wood veneer.

Usually, there are three finish options. Rigid thermofoils (RTF) is made with flexible vinyl foil on medium-density fiberboard. RTF can be shaped into various styles. Wood veneer has the warmth and look of natural wood and costs more than RTF or laminate. Plastic laminates have various color options, but they are only fitting for plain cabinet styles. One thing you have to remember is refacing kitchen cabinets does not fix any deterioration or damage of your cabinet materials.
